Good waterfront joint. Casual environment. Great view. Lots of fried food options.

I loveeeeeeee this place!!!!!!!!! From the beginning to the end this place is by far the best lunch spot I've ever been to. We went here as soon it opened for lunch after checking out of our hotel. We ordered at window, we sat wherever we wanted, and they brought us our food. We sat all the way at the end of the dock and while waiting for our food we actually saw a whole pod of dolphins swimming around! My husband wasn't too crazy about his grouper blt but the clam chowder was creamy and full not watery, my chicken wrap was delicious, and my sister enjoyed her fish and chips. It was pretty awesome we actually got to see the dolphins, birds, and boats in the distance. Such a nice place to enjoy lunch and the breeze!

I would not recommend this restaurant. The food was bland greasy or overcooked. I ordered grilled flounder, and it was pan fried not grilled. My wife shrimp and scallop Alfredo was mostly pasta, but the pasta and seafood was overcooked and the alfredo sauce was tasteless. Our coconut shrimp appetizer was overcooked, and the key lime bite dessert I can buy at Sam's Club. Overall we were extremely disappointed and will not be back again.

We went here on a Sat. Night. They have a large out door seating area, with a fabulous view of the water. It was a little cool the night we were there so we eat inside. The seating and serving are nothing great. You order your food at a walk up window. Then someone calls out your name and they bring you your order. All three of us got a different kind of fish. The dinner orders come with two sides. I got slaw and mash potatoes, my wife got rice and our daughter got fries and green beans. All of the sides were good, fresh and tasty. I got cod fish grilled and it was very well prepared. My wife and daughter got grilled flounder. They were both very happy with it. The place is not big on atmosphere, the utensils are plastic, but the food is fresh, served hot and the price is about the going rate for fresh seafood in NSB.

What a great stop for a fish sandwich after a long day at the beach. I had never heard of it before. The atmosphere is awesome. It sits right on the intercostal so you can watch the boats and hopefully dolphins. The corn nuggets were delicious! This will now be my stop every time I go to New Smyrna.

Good food and we like watching the dolphins play in the river which happens frequently!

Fish Rubens are the new fish tacos! I had been to Dolphin View about five years ago and was very disappointed with the experience but decided to give it another chance and am so glad I did. The restaurant has obviously changed hands and has expanded seating and service. When I saw the line of people ordering food I was impressed. Your food is ordered in line and can choose to sit inside or outside, where your order is brought to you. The outside table area was nice because of the amazing view. We saw dolphins playing in the water and the weather was perfect. There is a cover over most of the tables so the sun doesn't get too hot. There is a nice choice of beverages - beer, wine, etc. This is a very casual, relaxed eating place with plastic plates, forks and cups. The fish rubens were served one hush puppy and choice of sides. I picked waffle fries and cole slaw. The fish ruben was served with a generous portion of white fish, choice of sauerkraut or coleslaw on a delicious bun. I can't wait to go back.....nice transition and props to the new owners.

I'm blown away by the positive reviews here & I have to wonder if owners/employees didn't write these reviews themselves. The atmosphere here seems great & is probably lots of fun for drinks. We went on a Thursday night. It was pretty empty. You have to order at a window and then they bring the food out to you, so there aren't necessarily "servers" as mentioned in other reviews here. They were out of garlic mashed potatoes for the night (1 of their 6 sides). Really? Don't you just need potatoes & garlic? But worst of all was the grilled grouper. Everyone at our table (4 of us) felt it was rubbery, seemed like it was frozen fish & just definitely did not taste fresh. I had a couple bites of grouper & kind of left it all alone after that. I would not recommend this place for dinner, maybe for beers with friends. The corn nuggets are good.

Great seafood and outdoor seating has an amazing view of the river and yes, on a good day dolphins, but not this day.

Unassuming place, (Just a covered dock with some picnic tables) but the frehest fish there is. Their charter boat (pastime princess) pulls right up to the restaurant! Conch fritters and corn nuggets!

  • Jessica C.

I wish I could give it a zero. They have put tons of money in ambiance and zero money into quality of food! I am willing to pay a little extra for some good mahi to avoid that horrible stomach ache I get from Vietnamese carp! Will not go here again!

Dolphin View is one of my favorite places to eat in NSB, and there are a lot of places to eat! You order inside a big warehouse-lookin place, and seating is outside on the river or in the tiki bar. Sometimes there's live music or karaoke, and you might even get lucky with a dolphin show! I once watched dolphins playing and catching fish for an hour while we ate dinner. What more could you ask for?? Food is reasonably priced and VERY good. The rice is awesome, the hush puppies are super awesome, and the Grouper BLT...well...it's pretty awesome too. This place is great for a wonderful, cheap dinner in an really cool setting that you won't find just anywhere.

I have lots of company that come to town and typically they want to go out to a restaurant that is frequented by locals but is "off the beaten path". The Dolphin View is my choice for a local restaurant with good food, fabulous setting, friendly staff and prices that are in line with the meal you are served. It is a "hidden gem" because it is located down a small alley behind a boat storage building. You will never see it from the road. All you will see is a small sign with the restaurants name to let you know where it is at. It is located on the river at the end of the main business street in town, Canal. The restaurant building has been around for years and has been redone by the current owner to bring it up to date. Recently indoor seating has been added so you have a choice to sit outside on the dock or in the Tiki area or in air conditioning. The site was originally a fish house where shrimpers and commercial fishermen would bring there catch to be processed and sold to the public. The river location next to the marina is as good as it gets in a coastal town to watch the boat traffic, see the local wildlife and enjoy a good fish meal. For the best breeze move from in front of the main building and sit by the tiki bar, (you also get a view to the north of the boat basin and a small bird filled island). Local boaters tie up to the dock, and the sight seeing boats are fun to watch go by. The food is well prepared and there is a lot of it. They have a large menu, and while they specialize in fish there is a wide variety of items including chicken and hamburgers. You place your orders and the food is brought to your table, (they take your name). The food is good and they bring it out hot and in a short period of time for such a busy restaurant. I almost forgot, it is pet friendly!

A very casual place on the intercoastal. We stopped there for a drink on a Friday night. It was packed at 6:00p! We got our drinks and scoped out a spot on the water. We saw lots of dolphins and it was a beautiful night. We didn't eat there, however the food looked very fried, and people were complaining that they were waiting over an hour to be served. But I wouldn't complain when you have such a gorgeous view!

  • keith l.

If you're white this place is great. Stay away if you're black however, because the staff will make you feel uncomfortable, while tolerating your presence and collecting your cash. Great view however. My Flounder sandwich was tasty, and the folks in the kitchen, do a pretty decent job. Sadly, this place is overly promoted.

  • Steve G.

Tried it once for lunch, would not go back. You order inside and carry to picnic tables outside. No waitress service. Right on the ICW so the view is good, but the birds are a nuisance. Not a fan.

Had fish dinner. Excellent, good portions, good quality. Excellent service. Right on the water and prices are reasonable. Good choice.

We did the dinner cruise and it went well. The buffet was ok but nothing to write home about. The cruise itself was a bit crowded they may have put too many people. Overall the price is more than reasonable and the cruise was enjoyable.

If you are looking for a simple place to eat without getting really dressed up, you need to go here. Service was fast, portions were very good, and to top it all off the food was very good. The manager came out to check on our table and we nicely ordered some of their key lime bites desserts and she gave them to us on the house. The view is very nice right next to the ocean and the environment is very nice. I would very much recommend.

  • Pate A.

The shrimp basket and shrimp dinner was great as the last time. I loved the sweet tea with lemon. For the price and a view you can't beat it. A real laid back place with laid back staff.

    (4)
  • James N.

Fantastic view and super fresh, reasonable seafood. What more can you ask for?! Wine and beer for purchase, walk up and order style counter and great outdoor seating (when its nice out) and they also have a small indoor dining room. Highly recommend for a relaxing lunch or dinner.

    (4)
  • Caleb R.

Its looks very rough on the outside. And has mostly outdoor seating, with that said it was really good fish you can tell that it was caught earlier that day. And the view was amazing.

    (5)
  • Connor W.

Great atmosphere, super laid back. The food is unbelievable. One of my favorite places in New Smyrna.

    (5)
  • Chris D.

The atmosphere is pretty casual and the view is decent. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits with fresh brewed tea, but it was definitely not a $16+ value. Been here twice now. The food is pretty good, but overpriced and the service is just OK. Not sure if I'll return.

Great spot for lunch! Enjoyed the view, the dolphins and the giant catfish! We ordered the Mahi sandwich, the Fried Oyster sandwich, Clam Strip sandwich, and Salmon salad..Everything was fresh and delicious!

Love the Blackened Redfish was so good. The Cod Fish and Chips were great! The view was awesome we saw at least 10 dolphins. Great little place will be back.

  • Cameron B.

Let me start off by saying this: you're going to be hard pressed to find a seafood restaurant that offers an incredible price for great food in this area. Simply put, it's a wonderful place. The food is wonderful. I had a fried oyster sandwich which was great. The oysters were correctly fried, which is hard to find. The green beans appeared to be fresh-ish (not canned) and the corn nuggets were great too. They can grill most anything minus a couple things that they have to fry- oysters and bay scallops. Love this place a lot. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Bill V.

Get the fried shrimp. Lightly breaded, very tasty. Nice view of the waterway. If you want luxury, this not your place. Good food food, good view. Good prices. Never done the cruise, not our style.

  • Suzi C.

We visit NSB about once a year. We cannot miss Dolphin View. We love it. The view is exceptional and the restaurant aptly named as we usually see a few Dolphins while we enjoy our meal. We love the scallops, shrimp, and fresh fish. My Dad enjoys the blackened Flounder Ruben. Don't feed the birds. We often find coupons or specials. Check some of the local ads. We also follow them on Facebook to keep up with specials they may have when we visit. (And for the pictures of the river) We have not done the dinner cruise. We booked it once, but bad weather caused them to cancel it. They refunded our money plus 25% in credit for future meals. Can't complain about a thing here.

  • Sherry W.

Great place to get seafood or for me the non seafood lover, a burger. You order at the outdoor counter and they deliver order to your table. The menus are on flat screen TVs. I got the 1/2 lbs. awesome burger...grilled red peppers, fried potato sticks, & cheese. It comes with two sides and a hush puppy for $10. I got the green beans and cheese grits. Cheese grits didn't have much flavor. Burger was great. It takes 20 min to grill. Others at my table had various seafood dishes and were all happy with them. The shrimp and grits have an awesome sauce! There is plenty of outdoor seating and about 8 tables inside. Self serve drinks. Our food was delivered in shifts. Half the table was eating for 10 min before the others received food.

$19.95 for the buffet dinner which was better than decent but not as good as great AND a dolphin boat tour...filled my phone with video and pictures. This is the tour ya wanna go on and the Captain of the ship was outstanding...give the man a raise!!!

  • Jennifer M.

Fresh seafood, from shore to your plate, same day. This is a true "local spot", hidden from the main downtown area, and directly on the intercostal. I had the Salmon, blackened, and topped with Lobster. Also tried my friends Shrimp & Grits, and we split Conch Fritters and Corn Fritters. Everything was delicious. If you are in New Smyrna, you must eat here.

  • Ashley S.

Tried this place because of reviews we were happily satisfied. I had grilled shrimp and hubby had blackened cod. Both dishes very good and the cashier was very kind and helpful. The man who brought our food out was kind and joking around with us a little before he went back inside. The gator bites and hushpuppies were delicious I highly recommend them. The shrimp was fresh but had a little too much lemon for me, my husband liked it though. The blackened cod was well prepared with the exception of its spiciness. It was well seasoned but could have been spicier for my husband's tastes. The cocktail sauce tasted homemade and was delicious. It was a windy day but we sat outside right at the waterfront and it was beautiful. They have and inside section, outside section, and if you still want the views but stay out of the weather they have a covered veranda. All in all we had a lovely experience. For the price it is a good value, great view and good quality. We will definitely come back when we visit again.

  • Meg F.

Let's start with the ambience. Amazing. You can literally sit on the edge of the pier and watch Dolphins and manatees. Beautiful and peaceful. The staff is friendly and prices are very reasonable. I'm allergic to seafood (which is obviously the most popular choice here) so I can't comment on that. I've had a chicken wrap and a patty melt which were both just okay. The hush puppies are awesome. I'll definitely be back - even if it's just for hush puppies and the view!

    (4)
  • Sara A.

Great place to eat. Shrimp and blackened mahi was amazing! Easy and breezy! walk up ordering window and great views! Saw a dolphin and sea turtle! Would really recommend.

  • Jenna D.

My husband and I went to dolphin view while on vacation. The food was good, nothing extraordinary. We did enjoy the view (as advertised) and the fun atmosphere. Great if you just want a relaxed place to hang out around dinner time. We will go back for sure.

This use to be Sea Harvest back in the day... It was amazing food - small restaurant that was clean and fresh. We would call ahead to order to-go food and pull up in the boat to grab it. Was the most amazing fried oysters and grouper I've ever had and it was fresh... Now, unfortunately, they have fallen into the tourist "trap" and have expanded and become less focused on quality and more on quantity. It's a nice view as always and more outdoor seating, however the food is terrible. The pick up window for to-go food is a very bad idea as you can see how poorly the kitchen is kept and the expansion was obviously a patchwork job(I feel sure the health department would shut them down) but the worst part of the pick up window experience is that you can see the canned scallops and clams! Really???? Food was terrible and they no longer have grouper! Never going back! Two stars for the staff who was actually great...

Had lunch here today & It was fantastic! My husband doesn't like seafood and every place like this he hasn't liked and he even liked his bbq & onion ring burger:) I had the blackened Mahi sandwich and it was DELICIOUS! The hush puppies are the best I have had as well!! Also the deck is dog friendly.. Will definitely be returning here!!

Enjoyed a wonderful lunch here today. Two of us had the fried shrimp and chips meals, one had shrimp and grits and we all split an order of the conch fritters. Shrimp was light and crispy, well cooked without being tough. The fries were great, although as you approach the bottom of the basket, the salt does get a bit heavy. My friend said the shrimp and grits were wonderful. The portion was huge and the shrimp had been de-tailed, which she appreciated. The conch fritters were nice and crispy, with enough fish in them that you didn't feel like you were eating deep fried breading. The patio was huge! Tons of places to sit and it is right on the river, which made for a great view. Bathroom (women's) was clean too - always a bonus! I loved the fact that they are a dog-friendly eating establishment! My dog had a great time and gave the fries two enthusiastic paws up. All in all, a nice place to chill out and relax, enjoy a tasty meal, and pup friendly.

What a lovely little spot along the water. I went in hopes of seeing some dolphin, but that never happened. But this place didn't disappoint. I was with my cousin, so we found a table and waited. And waited a little longer. So I approached a father-daughter duo to ask where to order because it was really confusing at The Dolphin View. I got an earful about the food, what fresh flounder is supposed to look like and what I must see at Canaveral. They let me know they you go up to the counter on the side of the building or go inside to order. There are no signs indicating this so yeah, take note! I ordered the flounder reuben with mashed potatoes, green beans and a hush puppy. I should have left all the sides off and just had the sandwich. It was amazing!! It had fresh flounder (or at least I think it was, it wasn't gray like the man warned me about happens with flash frozen fish), sauerkraut and swiss cheese. I was a little leery but went for it at the suggestion of the waitress. Sooo glad I did! The sides weren't really that good, unfortunately, but eh, I let it go. It was the view and the atmosphere that made this place just perfect. It was quiet, beautiful and located right by a bird sanctuary of sorts. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars was simply because the sides were lacking and the ordering process just too unclear. Maybe that's part of the laid-back beachy vibe. We did get caught in some rain and took shelter indoors. We had a nice conversation with one of the employees. Apparently they also have dinner cruises. This is a gem for sure and very close to Canaveral Beach.

Bad Food, Poor Service I took my wife and two other couples to Dolphin View last evening. The batter on my wife's clam strips was uncooked to the point it was like paste under the crust. Two orders were completely forgotten and they waited an additional 20 minutes for their meals. Three of the 6 orders was no better than a 2 on a 10 scale. We will never go back.

  • M. S.

Was turned on to this place by a good friend. Had the fried fish sandwich didn't taste like anything! tartar sauce was good, coleslaw was excellent, hush puppies were excellent. I found it to be average at best

  • Rochelle W.

The food was reasonably good, but the view was better. It was a very enjoyable place to eat. We had a good view of the water, and saw a few dolphins sitting there. There are better places to view dolphins in New Smyrna, certainly, but this particular dolphin viewing spot has food, tables, and I seem to remember it being covered outdoor seating.

    (4)
  • Elizabeth K.

Very disappointing. First we had to stand in line for 20min to order food which is over-priced at $16.99-$19.99 . Then you seat yourself. Took 45 min for our food to be delivered. Servers walk around calling your name for food. Food comes in plastic plate, plastic silverware and sides served separately in plastic container. If Im paying $19.99 for a meal I expect real plate. Burger was good. Kids shrimp tasted horrible, Salmon was very dry, Mahi with Pineapple topping was best thing they had but a little spicy if order blackend. And to top it off we were eatin up the whole time by no-see-um bugs.

Do the dinner and cruise here, it was the most awesome deal I have ever had. It's 20 bucks a person. For this small amount of money you get to eat a buffet and go on an hour and a half cruise where you will see lots of dolphins and manatees. The buffet is good but don't expect a five star meal. It's what I would call a better than average buffet. Drinks are not included but very reasonable $2 for a bottle of beer and I think soft drinks were a buck. After you eat you load up on the boat where they have drinks for the same low prices. They have a DJ that plays great music that fits the scenery and the mood well. They point out the wildlife for you and the local landmarks. We got to the boat early to get on the top deck. It was great everyone was having an awesome time. I would recommend this to anyone. We have been coming down here for 24 years and I wish I would have discovered it sooner. We will make it a must stop from now on when we come down. This was one of the best times I have had down here. Oh yeah, and tip the crew. They do a great job and make it a fun time so they deserve it and come on you are only out 20 bucks plus drinks so you can spare a good tip.

The view is amazing and lives up to the name. The kids loved it! We did the Dolphin cruise along with dinner buffet. The food was decent but I can't eat seafood so I was limited to trying things that were available on the buffet that was included with the cruise. I would have gone 5 stars BUT with the dinner cruise I had to buy sodas and waters. The cruise was nice. Saw Dolphins and manatees. Boat even had a raffle, which I won. We did happen upon some beach goers that were mooning and flashing the boats passengers, including my young children trying to catch a glimpse of the dolphins which isn't the companies fault. Other than that it was decently enjoyable.

It's so different than what I expected, but it was a great meal. Order at the counter and take a seat outside at the covered tables on the water (or inside if you're crazy or it's raining) and the food will be brought out to you. Initially I wasn't sure about this place -- the combination of ordering at the counter and the fact that almost everything on the menu is fried had me worried about our decision initially. But it turned out to be a really delicious sandwich on a really beautiful day with fantastic scenery (we sat at the bar-style seating up against the water). True to the restaurant's name, we spent most of lunch watching the dolphins popping up out of the water. An order of clam chowder had gotten lost along the way, but this was immediately rectified when I mentioned it. A great experience all around, and probably one of those places that we'll make it a point to visit whenever we're in town.

  • Lane K.

Super casual and low key seafood joint. Right on the water with lots of seating inside and out. Walk up to the counter and order and they bring it out to you. Average prices with the usual fare. We've had the mahi (blackened and fried) and the shrimp and everything is always great. And as the name suggests, you will probably see lots of dolphins while you eat! My favorite place in NSB for outside seating. We've never encountered a big crowd here either.

    (4)
  • Matt F.

The views of the waters and dolphins were just as amazing as the food. I would highly recommend the stuffed flounder. It was absolutely great. The cheesy grits were perfect and I don't usually like hush puppies - but these were amazing. The service setup was a little different than what I'm used too, but I think that's part of the charm of this place. Would definitely like to come back to do the buffet and cruise - for $20!

  • Charlotte G.

Dolphin View is always an amazing experience. A wonderfully happy young man Kenyon with a handlebar mustache took our order and he was one of the friendliest waitstaff I have ever met. Kori brought us our dinner and was very sweet as well. Brandon hands down is one of the best cooks in town as I have never had a more perfectly cooked burger every time I have been here. Beautiful atmosphere l! Great food! Friendly staff! Truly a hidden gem on the river in new smyrna beach!

    (5)
  • J C.

Never have done the cruise but have done the food a couple times. The mahi sandwich is good! All their seating is outside. Go at sunset and bring a sweatshirt because it gets pretty breezy as it cools down. The food is good and you can't beat the view for the price.

Best fish sandwich ever!!! I love sitting on the intercostal water way eating and watching all of the wildlife

  • Rod H.

Do you like seafood, cold beer and dolphins playing in front of you? If you say yes then this is the place to go. We have passed by this for awhile going to the beach, and we finally stopped for lunch. I had the flounder reuben and my wife had a grilled mahi wrap. You order at the window, find a seat and then the servers bring our your order. The food was good, the beer was cold and yes we saw dolphins. If you need more beer the servers will get it, but you pay as you go.

  • Lori S.

This is the one place I HAVE to go to when we visit New Smyrna. The oysters are great. One of my sons had the crab stuffed flounder, which was as good as any I've ever tasted. A rate find at such a casual place. One of my sons dislikes sea food and ordered a burger. It was one of the best burgers he's had.

    (4)
  • Shelli P.

Friendly staff and great seafood. Right on the water. Used the Groupon and tipped well.

    (5)
  • Stefano C.

The location is awesome. Right along the intercoastal, it provides some great views and a chance to sit out on the deck and oversee some really fantastic scenery that people might take for grant it. Heck, you might spot a dolphin or even a manatee, or surely some paddleboarders. The food was ok. The flounder reuben wasn't spectacular, but heck, I don't think you can mess it up too badly. The idea of ordering, sitting and having the food brought to you is a bit off, but it works for them. The waiters/runners were super nice and very friendly. Kudos to them!

  • Barry K.

Friendly staff, great food and amazing views! Very casual which is uniting for all to experience this great hidden gem. We went here a few times recently and can tell they are working to make it better but the food quality is the lowest quality processed food available. It used,to be a better quality and loved this place. Recently it has gone down hill. There are too many other options to eat bad food. Love the view and the staff tries but.....the owners and chef need to step it up a notch and the place could be packed all day, every day.

    (2)
  • Josette L.

Love the food for the price the portions are very large and great spots to sit out on the water!

    (5)
  • Suzanna S.

They've added a few more options to the menu like shrimp and chips. Regular drinks are self serve free refills. They do have beer and some mixed drinks. All the food I've tried so far has been great. The staff is friendly. The restaurant is very dog friendly. There's a small indoor dining area but you'll want to sit outside preferably. So far, I've seen dolphins, manatees and a sea turtle. Evenings have always been the best for possible sightings. They're also across from a couple of rookeries mostly made up of pelicans and egrets.

    (4)
  • Jabez M.

It's pretty hard to mess up deep fried seafood but this place is just bad. Very slow service and the food was just horrible.... The only good part of this restaurant is the riverside view. So I would recommend taking a river cruise and not eating....

    (1)
  • Katie B.

would rate food at a 3, however the restaurant is directly on the water with frequent dolphin viewings...it's unbelievably gorgeous (definitely 5 rating) so I just averaged the two. they do have lots of food options (hamburgers/fish&chips/etc), however my sister and I split their flounder with stuffed crab and clam chowder. It's definitely over rated. My sister thought it was ok but it comes with a cream sauce that makes it way to heavy and it's made with a lot of peppers...I didn't really like it. Oh and definitely sit outside. The inside seating is kind of stuffy and dirty. Honestly you don't really go here for the food, it's all about the view.

Yeah. We will be back. and we will bring friends. Good portions, good prices. Good fish quality. Great outdoor seating. Great views. And yes we saw dolphins ! It was relaxing and enjoyable. I can't really say much else beyond we will be back. Because with so many food choices in New Smyrna, that's a big compliment. But one thing. I wouldn't say it's better than JB's Fish Camp. But that place is getting TOO crowded now days. The secret is out there. This is our new place for lunch....

Came in with a large group. Amazing 270 degree view. Shrimp and grits was the tastiest I ever had in a restaurant. blacken flounder was good but just a little over cooked. we tried other people's dishes, all fried, but were all cooked well. casual atmosphere, perfect for a lazy weekend afternoon. Do becareful if you bring younger children, one side of the out side seating does not have railing. Overall a pretty chill place.

We went for their last space shuttle launch "cruise". It was advertised to have the best view for the launch. Well the Coast Guard apparently had already limited how close any vessel could get to the launch site, it wasn't very close at all. I mention this because when I discussed this issue with the captain prior to the cruise he was very noncommittal about saying what his cruise plan was going to be. The far distance could be argued that the captain had no control about it, but we should have been notified about the possibility of this issue especially when considering the very high price we paid. We paid $300.00 person (over $950.00 with taxes and fees for our family) and the price was advertised to include a prime rib and lobster dinner while on the cruise. What we received was not exactly the industry standard in my opinion. We did not receive any dinner while on the cruise, it seems that this was never a practical idea because of the small size of the boat. The advertisement of these amenities implied that the boat was more luxurious and bigger than it was. We did receive a buffet style dinner when got back to port. It was apparently prepackaged very thinly pre-sliced beef that did appear to be prime rib but it was cooked until it was brown. What about the lobster you ask? Well I foolishly assumed that this being a seafood joint on the ocean that it would be a lobster for each person. Well not exactly, it was again, apparently some kind of prepackaged lobster pieces in a nasty butter flavored sauce served buffet style. Part of how I justified the high cost of this "cruise" was that we were going to be receiving a gourmet meal while on this "cruise". Just proves that if something is open to interpretation the provider will likely chose the cheaper way. The boat was packed to nearly the legal limit with passengers. I had to press the crew to find out about the emergency supplies for example as to where the life preservers were. The staff seemed somewhat lackadaisical about the safety of the passengers in my opinion. Because the boat was packed with people, the boat rocked very heavily in the waves. At least 75% of the people were seasick. This really isn't the crews fault but their uncaring attitude was. Some of the crew seemed to think it funny that there were people throwing up all over the place. When some poor little boy puked all over the deck near a crew member, I assumed that the crew member would quickly address the situation. Not so. He just stood there and let the vomit run all over the deck making even more people sick. It wasn't until I got a hose out and started to wash down the vomit did the crew member do anything but watch. By the way I think that the only reason the crew member did anything was because I got his shoes wet with the hose by "accident". We knew that this was a fishing charter boat and that we shouldn't expect it to be some kind cruise ship but, the stench of wet dog that permeated the air was really quite unexpected. We expected a fish smell, but wet dog? By the way, beware of other reviews that you find on the Internet about this place, some of them were written by the owner by his own admission in the fine print.

5/5 for view. Standing in line I saw around 7 differents dolphins swimming by with dozens of birds (pelicans, storks, cranes, etc) flying around the area. 2/5 for food. I got the clam chowder, blackened mahi with hush puppies and cheesy grits. My girl got clam chowder, crab legs with fries and hush puppies. My far the best was the clam chowder (5/5) hush puppies were decent (3/5), mahi was ok (2/5), grits were flavorless (1/5), fries were Costco fries (1/5), crab was squishy. It was damn near impossible to crack open (0/5). Overall with the main dishes it was very very disappointing. If you go stick to appetizers and the chowder

Good food, good view, all at a good price. I ordered the fish sandwich blackened with waffle fries and slaw. All was very tasty including the hush puppy ( I could have eaten a basket full)! The sandwich was over flowing with fish. Hubby got the Reuben fish sandwich - lots of fried fish with Swiss cheese and kraut. He enjoyed it. We discovered this gem on the way to the beach. Nothing fancy just a good meal overlooking the water while enjoying the day. We will definitely go back.

Cute little seafood joint on the water. No frills but food was good and a nice view with dolphins too. Try lobster roll and flounder Reuben. Great bang for your buck.

My husband and I tried to go here to watch the NSB boat parade as they were advertising that you could park in their lot for $10 and then get a $10 food/drink credit. We had never been to the parade before and didn't realize what a big crowd it draws. We arrived at the restaurant a little after 5pm and were told that they parking lot was already full. We were able to find free parking just a little ways away but when we turned the corner to see the restaurant we knew we were out of luck as far as eating there goes. There was a line of probably over 100 people all waiting to order food. We didn't realize that there was no table service and no way were we going to stand in line for what would have probably been close to an hour. We decided to just go in and see if we could at least find a spot to sit and maybe get a cocktail. Outside seating was all taken so we found a spot inside but were told that the bartender was out on the dinner cruise. Huh? An event as big as this and there's no bartender? A line of over 20 people quickly built up. We waited about a half hour and no one showed up so we decided to just leave. Too bad. I think things could have been better handled to make this an even more profitable evening for the restaurant as well as keep customers happy. Suggestions for next year: seat people as they arrive and have seats only for customers who will be buying food and have waiters/waitresses to take orders. Have the tiki bar area open and have at least two bartenders. Heat lamps outside would have been nice too. We will still probably give the cruise a try in the future.

Hubby and I, along with two of our dogs, stopped by Dolphin View for dinner after a long day at the dog beach. We knew it was dog friendly, on the water and they serve beer, so it sounded like a no brainer :) I'm glad I read some reviews from fellow Yelpers before we got there, because the set up of the place is a little confusing. When you first walk up, there is a podium that has a sign instructing you to take a menu and seat yourself. There were no menus, so we moved on to find a table. There is outside deck seating, as well as inside seating, and even a tiny little beach-like area with sand. At first we opted to sit at a high top near the edge of the deck. One of the things this place is known for is dolphins popping up (hence the name). I was hoping we would get to see some, but didn't I believe due to the choppy weather. One of the servers came over and let us know that it was about to storm bad, and recommended that we sit closer to the main building in a booth. They have what look like heavy duty shower curtains that they can pull out in case it starts to rain...good idea for unpredictable Florida showers! Once we sat down, hubby was able to round up a couple menus. A server immediately brought out a bucket of ice water for each of our dogs, which was pretty awesome. A lot of reviews mentioned that the seafood is the best thing here, but we decided to split some gouda bites and a burger. You have to go up to the counter to place your order, then listen for one of the servers to call out your name and deliver your food. The particular time we went, the line was fairly long...I wanna say hubby had to wait for about 20 minutes. Luckily they let you order multiple drinks at time. We knew we wanted to hang out for a bit, so we went ahead and ordered two beers each to avoid waiting in line again. Our food actually came out fairly fast. The burger was just okay. It came with two sides, and we chose waffle fries and mashed red potatoes. The fries were obviously frozen, and the potatoes lacked salt. The gouda bites, which were pretty much fried mac & cheese, were probably my favorite thing. Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, nice views and dog friendliness of Dolphin View, but the food I had was nothing to write home about. I can easily picture myself coming back on a sunny day to sit on the deck with the pups, have a cold beer and (hopefully) spot some dolphins. And maybe I'll give the seafood a try next time.

Perfect spot for lunch nearby the water but watch out for (mosquito bites), coconut shrimp with house salad was delicious. You order food at the window, leave your name, then seat yourself. Very relaxing outdoor place for brunch.

I've been going to NSB for the past 15+ years, had a beach condo there for a long time, and have never found this place until just recently. Went there on a date-you order inside-it's outdoor seating only-but it's all fully covered and facing the intercoastal. The view is amazing, we actually saw dolphin cruising down the channel and a manattee. Yeah there are birds but if you don't feed them, they don't bother you. :) Oh, yeah, and the food is fresh and tasty too. Nothing too fancy, basic seafood and fresh sandwhiches... all pretty good and nice for the price. Good dolphin sandwhich! Delish! This place is a hidden gem, for sure!

Nice spot but the food varies on okay depending on the ownership. I've been coming here for years, because of the location, but have never been impressed with the food - except the children's fish basket; for whatever reason, my daughter's food's always better. Small sides. Funny ordering system leaving you to wonder, do I tip, don't I tip. I don't know. No. Maybe. River cruise embarkations and debarkations tend to overcrowd the place and having to get back in line to order another drink is a real put off. You could ask one of the pseudo waitstaff but it's hit or miss. With this place, everything should be fresh but I'm afraid, and I'm guessing here, it's not. Just okay but if they had drink specials or draft and friendly waitstaff to refill drink orders; I'd be a regular.

Great view after that it can be very disappointing no wait service long lines for food and the same line for cocktails we did manage to talk a runner into getting us refills big mistake took forever and you have to pay each time you order what a waste of a great location.

Maybe it was the perfect weather, maybe it was the dolphins we saw in the water or maybe it was the delicious mini key lime pies we had for dessert, but this restaurant was just what we were looking for. Although the menu is not anything amazingly original, it had something for everyone in our party. Fish n chips, fried oyster sandwich, blackened mahi on a salad (and I did see chicken for non-seafood eaters). Hush puppies, waffle fries and coleslaw as typical, but not disappointing, sides. If you are looking for a casual lunch spot for food and drinks (and key lime pie bites!) this is a great spot.

Good stuff, the tourists tend to out number the locals. It's good simple food with a great view. They tend to run out of items as the day goes on ......

Flounder Rueben....tasty!!! We ate outside and brought our dogs. The deck is huge and right on the Indian River. I just wished it wasn't order at the window, would rather have a wait staff. That won't keep me from coming back again though!

Long time NSB native and sorry to report local favorite is going downhill. I was glad to see Sea Harvest change owners and get refurbished to Dolphin View, but it seems owners are cutting corners and tailoring to tourist going on river cruise. Very disappointed they are no longer using local seafood and abandoning fresh grouper dinners. Food is no longer worth the price and most likely we will not return. We can go elsewhere for great views and local fare. Two of us paid $33 for same fish served at Long John Silvers.

My husband and I have been coming here for years and unfortunately we have seen a steady decline in the quality of food and service. The food wait is incredibly long and when it finally does come it seems as though it has been sitting out for a while. Some of my favorite things are no longer on the menu (mahi-palatter). Service has gone out the door with the growth. Before would always get greeted warmly and now I feel like the person taking my order is annoyed and tired. I will give the ambiance 4 stars. They now have a deck with lots of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating in which the fountain drinks are located. The bathrooms have seen better days. I have brought some of my friends here raving about how good this place is, and although they seem to like it, I am greatly disappointed that they won't know how good it used to be.

Very casual. Great place to spend some time on a lazy afternoon. Typical fried seafood, not exceptional, but good. We stopped in for a late lunch and ate on the deck overlooking the intracoastal waterway. Very cool, you can bring your well-behaved, leashed dog. Fishing boat docks here so we were able to see today's catch as it was unloaded. Enjoyable "real Florida" experience.

The food here isn't anything to write home about, but they fixed up the outside so nice that I have to give it four stars! On a nice day, there's nothing better than getting a burger and sitting out by the river.

I wasn't sure about this in the beginning I didn't really think we would see any dolphins but we saw quite a few jumping along the way the food was good there wasn't much to choose from but it was good the drinks they had on hand were limited but to me this was more about the cruise and they made it very enjoyable the DJ played music while narrating the tour... They had tickets they gave away on board for you to win free stuff very cool and affordable fun!

We chose the Dolphin because we went with our friends who have been going there for years. If you like good fresh fish in a casual atmosphere with a fantastic view of dolphins playing out in the water this is the place. We ordered the special, fried flounder sandwich, waffle fries, and hush puppy, $5.00. What a deal. It was delicious.

Friends and I went for lunch and it was pretty pitiful. Service was fine but the fish was gross. I got a flounder Ruben and I could of been happier with farm grown tilapia, no flavor at all. Both friends got Maui Maui and it was supposed to be blackened. It was not at all and tasted like a badly burnt hamburger. And the blackened seasoning was grease flakes from pan lol. It used to be really good food years ago!

We are bummed! Growing up in NSB we watched the painful decline of Sea Harvest and had high hopes when it was reborn as Dolphin View. At first we were happy -sure things were more expensive- but it was clean, and there were some great things on the menu like Mauhi lettuce wraps with Thai peanut sauce... Unfortunately, looks like there are new owners again and things have really gone down hill. The menu is changed again- the good stuff is gone- and they are pushing things like a "fish and chips" dinner that is from Vietnamese catfish. The servers all say stuff like "it's the best fish I've ever eaten" like they've had to rehearse. Not knowing about the new ownership and changes, we went there with our kids last weekend and had a very bad experience. The place was jammed with folks -which is fun for us -we like people, and the view was awesome. The bad thing is that after ordering, we realized that no one around us had their food... -this is after waiting in a long line outside just to order. After an hour and still no food, we were all starting to get restless -we are talking a whole big restaurant of folks with no orders coming... then some of the bus-people came around saying "the computer had been down" but now things were fixed and the food would be coming soon... 20 minutes later still no food and it was getting late -our kids needed to be get home and go to bed... So I finally got the attention of someone and after explaining the situation and being bounced to a few different folks, a woman came out and told me that they'd cancel my card for the order and still give me the food as takeout. -I'd just wanted a refund - So... I waited a bit while rest of family was in car -finally food came but was cold and things were missing -which would have been ok if it was free. BUT they charged my card after-all. What gets me is that these folks knew that the food wasn't going to be coming but they still took many orders. BOTTOM LINE: Maybe you can treat tourists bad but WE WILL NOT BE COMING BACK and WE WILL TELL EVERYONE AROUND HERE WHAT A BAD EXPERIENCE WE HAD.

Our first time here. I had the fish and chips. The fish was Pangasius, never heard of it before today, and it was delicious! Paul had the grouper parmesean sandwich and he liked it too. We took our dogs on the porch to sit with us and they were very welcoming and accommidating to us and our pets. They brought them two bowls of water and kept checking back on us and the dog bowls. We saw dolpins in the water playing, they were very active, seeing up to about 9 different ones today! The sail boats going by were beautiful and overall we enjoyed our time there. I can see why some may have a negative review with high waitress expictations and all but if you just want some decent food, beer, pet friendly and great views this is a wonderful place to park for a couple hours. I would go back.

...been here before with some other Yelpers, this place is awesome since it's a small but cozy atmosphere. The placement of the restaurant is good since its literally beside the water and and the food is great. The Flounder sandwich is great and I HIGHLY recommend the hush-puppies! The outdoors seating is great and provides a good view of the water (seen dolphins before) and the service is quick.

Fantastic view and yes, you just may see dolphins. One thing I would like to point out is this is not a sit-down and order with a waitperson establishment. When you walk out to the deck you order food and drinks at a window and leave your name. A runner will deliver your food. You can carry your drinks to a seat yourself table or have them delivered with the meal We carried ours. Runners were around frequently asking if we needed refills, this was a good thing. You do have to pay as you go though. As for the food, it was good, not off the charts, but good. The fish was fresh and the food was hot when served. We had blackened Mahi sandwich, slaw and fries. Everything was quite good. Friends ordered the grouper parm sandwich and a grouper cakes. The grouper was fantastic and the fish basket was good. The pricing was on par with other lunch stops. I would definitely come here again for a quick lunch on a nice day

Nothing special. I have eaten here several times over the past 5 years. I've always been disappointed. The dockside ambiance is nice, too bad the food and service is mediocre. Not bad, just below par. Staff is friendly, however we had to wait quite a while for our food. There are other, better dining options in NSB.

Everything about this place is amazing! The food is fresh, the price is cheap, portions are large, people are casual (I've went in my bathing suit), the view is beautiful. It's an all around good time too! I take everyone that travels to Florida to visit me here. My FAV is oysters. Only 1 time I went & they were out so I had shrimp but I hear the staff talking in the back & apparently they cook what they catch daily & when they run out, they are out! AWESOME!! The key lime pie was really great too. I could sit there hours just watching boats, birds & dolphins go by. HIGHLY recommend trying it!

This place is awesome! I don't know of many chilled-out waterfront restaurants where you can dine and enjoy the view at reasonable prices. Pick up a menu on your way in, grab one of the many tables with an awesome view of the intracoastal, and then place your order at the window. A friendly server will bring your food (by name) to your table. They have outside tables along the water, and some inside tables as well. Either way, there are lots of seats. The flounder reuben with kraut was delicious; it's also good with cole slaw. The ciabatta roll was a nice touch, although next time I'll forgo the swiss cheese because the fish was so good all by itself, and this thing is seriously rich even without the cheese. I'm pretty sure the fish isn't local flounder (a bit too thin and has that previouslly frozen look), but it's tasty and always very consistent. They are dog friendly here, which is a huge plus for us. We brought our well-behaved chocolate lab with us, and the staff couldn't have been nicer to him. They brought out a pail of water for him to drink, and a couple of dog treats. After our meal we chilled out in some lounge chairs in the sand with a cold beer and watched the dolphins play near the marina. They were chasing up mullet and feeding. I've also seen some big tarpon here. This is a great place. We will definitely come back. The location is amazing and the staff is always super friendly. Update: We went back in November 2013 and had a flounder reuben. Unfortunatley, the ciabatta roll changed and it wasn't very good. I sure hope this isn't a permanent change.

Very casual fish joint. No servers, you order at the counter and they call out your name when its ready. Lots of fishermen pulling in... Playing "jimmy buffet" of course. Had the blackened grouper sandwich... Next time i will order it well done. It came out almost steamed. My fault... Should have asked for it how I wanted it! Had 2 blackened grouper meals with 2 drinks...$29. Kind of steep for the meal. Aside from that, awesome view of water, pelicans and dolphins! All in all awesome way to end beach day.
